How do you switch out the pickups on a guitar?
I have a Schecter Hellraiser Tempest and am looking to switch out the pickups from EMG Active 81/60A to Seymour Duncan AHB-1 Blackouts. I have never done this before. Can anyone suggest a website or let me know if this is even possible? Thanks.
It should be a piece of cake. Make sure the new pickups fit first. Then look online for a wiring diagram since the EMG pickups are active and employ a 9V battery, they will not be the same. You should be able to buy some electrical solder, and a soldering gun, or a Cold Heat Gun. Strip out all the old EMG components, and cleanup the contacts on the 1/4 plug and you pickup switch.

You can find it based on how many pickups, volume knobs, tone knobs, and switches. Its pretty straight forward, just take your time. If you screw up, heat up the solder to remove it, and do it again. You cant really mess it up, or I should say, if you mess it up, its easy to fix. Save your money! Do it yourself and learn about your guitar.
