Besides the brand, is there a huge difference between Gibson and Epiphone?
I am thinking of getting a new guitar. I want a Les Paul, but I'm not sure which brand to buy, Gibson or Epiphone. The Epihpone one is a lot cheaper, so I'd prefer that. But what I am wondering is if there is really any difference between the more expensive Gibson one and the more affordable Epihpone one. Is it just the brand, or is there really a difference?
Gibson's are made in the US,
(Nashville area)
Gibson owns Epi, and they are imports, from several different countries, China, Japan, Korea, etc
If you look around, the Epi's even vary a lot, in quality and price,
the best Epis are the Japanese ones, then Korea, (or any other country)
then China at the bottom.
the better Japanese ones usually use American electronics inside,
and some are even set up in the US
