I have a rawhide strap for my mandolin and it smells like mildew, any solutions as to how to get the smell out?
It is a soft new rawhide and I don't want to damage it, but I am having a tough time using it with this smell!
Get some saddle soap to clean it with then work Mink Oil in to it. Mink oil is a paste that can be purchased anywhere shoe polish is sold and works well to water proof leather products.
