How do you install a ceiling fan (I'm pretty sure the house was pre wired for both fan and light)?

It should be in the instructions. However, having installed a million of these things here goes. Turn off the power to the site on the fuse box. This will make sure that you don't get shocked! Pull out the old light and expose the wires. this would be a good point to have someone to assemble the fan blades to kill some time. Connect the wires to the ones in the ceiling. If the fan is extremely heavy or its hard to hold, install the hook they give you into the ceiling and so you can hang the fan on the hook with the wire attached to the base of the fan. This will make wiring it not hard as you don't have to juggle the fan's weight. After wiring, make sure that you've wired it correctly. The instructions will usually show the proper way. After wiring the fan, install the base to the ceiling. The attachment should have already been installed. Attach the fan base to the ceiling making sure that everything is tightened down. You don't want the fan to start shaking down the road. After the base in on the ceiling, install the blades last. It will probably take a step ladder to do. Just install one blade, rotate the fan and install the other blades. Test the fan and the lights. If it doesn't work, you might have to dissamble and re-wire. Good luck.
