Satin Guitar

Lacquer on a satin finish guitar?

The neck on my SG broke off after i accidently dropped it. I'm going to fix the neck and sand down on the cracks and around and i going to paint it, but its a satin finish. So i was wondering if i could spray the sanded part in color then lacquer and add lacquer to the rest of the quitar so it will all be the same [the shiny finish]. Is that a bad idea? Does anyone know?

You bring back memories.. Lol I sat on my old 1953 LES PAUL Special and up to this day, I miss that guitar. I have an old 1969 Les Paul but, whatever..
As for your SG, they are very weak at the head stock. If you plan to glue it, I suggest drilling 2 holes on the broken part of both pieces and insert wooden dowels to strengthen it.
Then re-align the holes to make sure it fits snugly. Adjust the holes so the 2 pieces fit well together. When they do, put carpenters glue , fit them together.
Sand it , stain it red cherry or whatever the color. You can apply satin on the neck only. I did that to my old Les Paul for a smoother finish and the hand slides easier.
Even if the rest of the body is glossy, it's irrelevant. You can't see the back and many guitarist sand their neck down and apply a satin finish just to protect the wood.
